I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
Whether it be from loading up a moving truck and driving over a thousand miles south from Pennsylvania or being welcomed back to sunny Florida by a category five hurricane, these words we find in the Book of Isaiah ring ever true this week for me! On all fronts God seems to be doing new things, and how exciting (and at times maybe a bit overwhelming) it is to see it springing up around us. After much prayer and anticipation over the past few months, I have landed in St. Petersburg and could not be more thrilled to begin doing life with you all and joining in God’s Kingdom work together!
Since first being introduced to FBC St. Pete, and all throughout my discernment process, one thing became very clear (besides the incredible kindness and hospitality you all have shown us), it became clear to me that God indeed is at work in this place! You all have shared stories of the good work God has done and the transformation you’ve experienced in this place. I’ve also heard so many of you speak to the sense that God is at work and doing a new thing here-what an exciting time for the life of this church and what a joy it is to be able to join you all in it!
As I get started and begin dreaming and preparing for doing ministry with students and young adults there are many things I am looking forward to in the areas of spiritual development, missional engagement, and building community together. Priority among them all is meeting you! Please stop by and say ‘hello!’ and share with me what excites you most about God’s work in this place! If you are a student or have children from 6th grade through 12th, you’re invited to join us every Sunday in Room 205 at 9 AM. We’ll have a good time getting to know each other and looking forward to all that is to come! Also, on Wednesdays, all students 6th through 12th grades are invited to join us for Wednesday night activities. We will enjoy our church-wide meal together at 5 PM, then head upstairs together for a chance to hang out and get to know one another. I can’t wait to see you there!
TJ and I couldn’t begin to thank you enough for the warm welcome you have extended to us – it feels good to call this place home! Also, speaking of “new things,” we are excited to share with you all yet another new thing God has been doing in our lives as we prepare to welcome our first child this coming January! Girl or Boy?…We will find out when they make their grand arrival. We are just overjoyed to step into the adventure that is parenting and couldn’t imagine a better community than FBC St. Pete to walk with us through this incredible season!
