‘I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.” (Psalm 122:1)
Sunday, September 9th was a wonderful day in the life of First Baptist St. Petersburg and I am glad I was there! Let me tell you what happened.
(1) Not only did we meet for Bible Study and Worship (which is a reason to celebrate in and of itself) but this past Sunday four (4) new Bible Study Groups began! Susan Johnson-Clayton began a new group for ladies called Prism and had a table full of ladies (and there’s always room for more!). Dave Wilbanks began a new group for men and I began a new group for parents and grandparents. Dave and my group also have plenty of room for more! Aimee, our Children’s Pastor, has so many young children, she also began a new 3-year-old group (You may not see Aimee around much on Sunday mornings … That’s because she is literally overrun with preschoolers)! If you want to see First Baptist Church in Action, stop by the Preschool area and stick your head in! We have more little ones than we have arms to handle! And it’s that one of the best problems to have in Church life.
(2) A great turn out for our First Church-wide Luncheon! Over 200 people enjoyed a lunch together in the Multi-Purpose Room. Be sure to plan to join us next month as we gather for a Church family meal on the First Sunday of each month. Our next luncheon will be on Sunday, October 7th immediately following Worship.
(3) Also on Sunday, our Youth Pastor Sara had a group of Youth and Young Adults enjoying Rock the Universe at Universal Studios! It’s during moments like these when youth and young adults can gather as believers and have some fun, that God is able to build some lifelong, life-changing relationships.
(4) Then on Monday, September 10th, we had almost 30 attend our first Leadership Breakfast with Ken Smith. Folks were encouraged and strengthened to launch out on a new day! Be on the look-out for our next Leadership Breakfast.
And (5) we had an Amazing Kick-off to Anchor Fellowship on Monday! We gathered for Exercise, for Choir Practice, and then Worship and Bible Study.
I’m thrilled at what’s happening around First Baptist St Pete! Join me in the excitement!
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4)
