I’m Proud of You

Every now and then I get to leverage these weekly lines to simply say to my people “I’m proud of you.” Some days and weeks the sources of that appreciation will just show up in mass. When it does, my heart sings and I have to find some way to give it a voice. This week, it takes three verses.

On Tuesday I went to Lynch Elementary to meet with my new lunch pal. That’s a mentoring program that pairs adults with kids for thirty minutes a week. Wouldn’t you know it, the boy I went to see was ill and absent that day. Wasted trip? By no means. I saw no fewer than eight folks from that Church on Gandy gladly making a difference. Some were there to see their new young friends. Others were helping teachers with stuff and making sure they got a lunch break. I even saw one with shovel in-hand going out to garden things up a bit. What was most evident was the joy exuding from our people and the deep appreciation expressed by the faculty and staff. We are just beginning to make an incredible difference in the life of Lynch and its people.

We are just now beginning to get some grasp on the devistation that has laid much of the Bahamas bare. It’s hard to know where to begin to respond. We have the unique opportunity to help the family of one of our own. Your generosity is making it possible to provide money for clothes for relatives of Telsie Campbell. She told me that they have lost everything and are starting from scratch just for the basics. We are poised to help our CBF pastors in Abacos and beyond. The need is overwhelming, but when we do what we can with what we’ve got, God directs and multiplies it. Thanks for giving Him the opportunity to do just that.

Lastly, after a long six month ordeal, we have moved my Mom into her new apartment in an assisted living facility. She is now a resident of Tallahassee and will get the care she needs in an environment that we are very happy with. Thank you for your support and understanding as I have beaten a path on I-75 and I-10. I knew we would eventually get to this life stage, but it came quickly. Your love, prayers, and kind inquiries have ministered to Lisa and me in ways you may not know as we learned to love and care for Miss Dee in a whole new way.

I will see you Sunday as we continue giving up to go up. Till then, just know a love you and am so proud of the ministries that reach far beyond these walls.
