At this lunch we discuss First Baptist history, mission, identity, ministries, mission partnerships, and structure. And you can ask any questions you have about First Baptist or church membership.

What does it mean to be a church member?
Think of membership not like being a member of a club, but rather being a part of a body. Being a member of First Baptist means you become the “we of us”. Our members are united in a shared purpose and mission as a family of faith.
What are the benefits of membership?
There are some tangible benefits. You’ll have a deacon assigned to you, who will work alongside our Pastoral Staff to ensure we are doing our best to meet your needs, both spiritual and material. You’ll have expanded access to our shared resources (discounted/free building rentals, scholarships, financial support for mission trips, etc.). But most importantly you’ll officially join us in the work God has given us to do: to help people experience God’s gift of life in Jesus!
What are the expectations of church members?
Our membership covenant is in our bylaws, but it can be summed up as five commitments:
- Grow – Follow Jesus as Lord and have a growing relationship with God.
- Connect – Be present and engaged in the life of the church. Participate in worship, including Lord’s Supper and Baptism. Join a Bible Study, Community Group, or other group where you are challenged and encouraged in your walk with Christ.
- Give – Contribute financially to the ministries of our church.
- Serve – Serve inside our walls by investing yourself in our ministries and beyond our walls by investing in our mission partners and other opportunities for Christian service.
- Advocate – Invite others to join our fellowship, align yourself with First Baptist, and share with others what God is doing in and through First Baptist.
How do I become a member?
We would love for you to officially join our family of faith as a church member. Here’s what we’d ask you to do:
- Profess faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord
- Attend a Discover First Baptist orientation
- Affirm your membership covenant through believer’s baptism, transfer of letter from another church, or a statement of faith
- Live out the five commitments of membership (above)
